IPSTAR LINKS MINDANAO PUBLIC SCHOOLS TO THE WORLD WIDE WEB

UNDER THE NEW EDUCATION OBJECTIVE (SO11), USAID developed partnership with the private sector with the objective of improving the quality of education in the Southern Philippines through several initiatives, one of which is by means of distance learning with the aid of modern technology.

For this project, IPSTAR through its Philippine partner TNR Telecoms, provided wireless communications technology using IPSTAR Broadband Satellite and ground terminals deployed to public schools in Mindanao. To date there are now hundreds of schools linked to the Internet via IP satellite communications technology benefiting hundreds of students and teachers in Mindanao.

TNR Telecoms, Inc. plays a key role in rural development by taking part in building communication highways through the use of modern communications equipment and infrastructure, paving the way to enhanced services and new access to advanced information and breakthrough learning.
